Hi guys! Welcome to another episode of God is Better Than Cake!
I’m your host, Lottie.
And I’m Penny! And I like cake!
In today’s lesson we’re going to learn about praying for our leaders. Last Sunday, my pastor preached from the Bible in Psalm 72 verses 1-4, it says:
“Give the king your justice, O God,
and your righteousness to the royal son!
May he judge your people with righteousness,
and your poor with justice!
Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people,
and the hills, in righteousness!
May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the children of the needy,
and crush the oppressor!”
This is a fascinating psalm from King Solomon, a prayer, if you will, where he asks for the ability to judge rightly from a heart of righteousness and help the poor and destitute. This is a good example of what we should pray for our leaders.
Listen to this instruction from 1st Timothy 2:1-4,
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
God wants us to pray in faith and obedience for all our leaders, whether they know God or not. He promises the blessing of a quiet and peaceful life as well as his longing for the lost to forsake their sin and know Him.
Let’s pray for that right now.
Dear God, please be with President Biden, his cabinet, our state and local leaders and help them to judge rightly, to honor you and to fear you. Please save their souls and lead them in the way, everlasting. In Jesus name, amen.
Thank you for tuning in to another episode of God is Better than Cake.
Until next time, Ciao
