It’s Ok to Cry

Welcome back to another episode of God is Better Than Cake, I’m your host, Lottie!

In today’s episode, we’re continuing our series on the beatitudes from Jesus’ sermon on the Mount.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:4‬ says

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

ESV

Sin and death brought out a deep emotion in the heart of mankind, a feeling called grief that causes us to mourn. While this verse may be applied to mourning the loss of a loved one, it’s more likely meant for those who mourn over their sin.

God wants us to understand the depth of our depravity, and mourn the weight of our sin, like he does.

If we do, we are able to appreciate his sacrifice on the cross, and strengthen our heart’s desire and motivation to follow him.

And best of all he promises comfort. or even the loss of a loved one. But when we do let go and really press into Jesus, he will carry us, comfort us and hold us.

Do you need to mourn your sin, let go of what’s holding you back and let Jesus comfort you? Joy is just around the corner!

Lord, please help us to recognize the dangers of sin and help us to mourn when we grieve the Holy Spirit and find comfort and mercy in you.

Thank you for sending Jesus to show us the way. In Jesus name Amen.

Thank you for listening to another episode of God is Better Than Cake. Remember to be kind to one another.

Until next time, Ciao
