Matthew 5:9
Welcome back to another episode of God is Better Than Cake
I’m your host, Lottie!
And today, we’re continuing our series on the beatitudes from the sermon on the Mount.
In Matthew 5:9 it says,
“Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.”
– Matthew 5:9 ESV
Just like the rest of these promises we are told of another blessing given to believers who put their trust in Jesus.
Mercy, Seeing God and being called Sons of God are all descriptors of those that belong to the family of God.
When Jesus died and rose again he made peace possible between God and sinners like you and me.
What Jesus is saying here is that we who spread his message of peace with God to others and work to bring peace are peacemakers and this is true evidence of a changed heart. It may seem difficult, we may be ridiculed or scorned and want to give up but the real treasure awaits.
Are you a child of God? Do you have unending peace in your heart no matter what’s going on in your life where you can be assured of who you belong to?
Listen to the words of this hymn by Horatio Spafford:
When peace like a river, attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come
Let this blest assurance control
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate
And hath shed His own blood for my soul
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul
Lord please help anyone today who is listening to find true peace in you by repenting of their sin and asking for forgiveness and trusting in Jesus for their salvation. Help us all to be peacemakers and spread the love of Jesus to the hurting and broken in this world.
In Jesus name, Amen!
Thank you for listening to another episode of God is Better Than Cake.
Remember to be kind to one another.
Until next time, Ciao
