Matthew 5:13-16
Welcome back to another episode of God is Better Than Cake
I’m your host, Penny!
And I’m Lottie!
Today I’m going to read a passage that follows the Beatitudes in Matthew 5 and challenge you in your walk with God. Are you ready?
Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
– Matthew 5:13-16 ESV
If you have been saved through faith and belong to Christ Jesus then you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
When I think about salt, I think about how it helps food to taste better. There’s a distinction to it, kind of like a sharpness that makes it bold.
And when I think about light, it shines into every corner and crack of a room, shutting out the darkness and making it easy to see what’s in front of me.
There’s a lot of pressure these days to conform to the world and the culture around us but Jesus said that’s like salt losing its saltiness or putting a lamp under a basket.
Both of those serve absolutely no purpose.
Think about what that means! God does not want you to sit around idly and pretend that the world is just a joyride. He has called us to stand for truth and proclaim the gospel of Jesus to a lost and dying world!
What can you do today to stand for Jesus and be a light in the darkness? Is there someone that’s on your heart that you should pray for or reach out to?
Be a lifeline!
Be a lifeline!
Lord Jesus, please help us all to stand up together for the truth, to not conform to the world but be salt and light. Help us to reach the lost, the hurting and the broken with the truth of your word. Save the lost and come quickly, Lord Jesus!
In your name, amen!
Thank you for listening to another episode of God is Better Than Cake.
Remember to be kind to one another.
Until next time, Ciao
That’s all guys, bye!!
