Welcome back to another episode of God is Better Than Cake
I’m your host, Lottie!
And today, we’re continuing our series on the beatitudes from the sermon on the Mount.
If you haven’t listened to the previous episodes yet, I encourage you to do so.
In Matthew 5:6 it says,
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied.”
ESV
Have you ever been so hungry that if you don’t eat something, like right now you’re going to lose your mind?
Yeah, nowadays people call that being hangry.
God made our bodies to hunger so that we eat food to survive and when we do the hungry feeling goes away and we are satisfied.
We all know this feeling very well and so Jesus used it to illustrate his point about hungering and thirsting for righteousness.
So basically if you hunger to be right with God, to please him, to obey his commandments and live a godly and pure life in this present age, he PROMISES to satisfy you.
Not only will you be satisfied but Jesus also said that those who drink from the living water that he gives will never thirst again.
Sometimes theology is hard to understand but Jesus makes this one pretty clear. If you truly hunger after righteousness you will be satisfied.
I don’t know about you but I definitely want my heart to be satisfied and live in perfect joy and peace.
We were made to worship, so turn your affections today to the only one that can truly satisfy your longings.
Lord Jesus thank you for your promised blessing to those that hunger for righteousness.
Help me and all my listeners to long for you and fulfill your promise to satisfy our hungry souls.
In Jesus name, Amen!
Thank you for listening to another episode of God is Better Than Cake.
Remember to be kind to one another.
Until next time, Ciao
