Can You Really Be Pure?

Psalm 119:8-16

Hi Everyone!

Welcome back to another episode of God is Better Than Cake

I’m your host, Lottie!

Hi guys! Today in our family devotions we read from Psalm 119 verses 1 through 16. I’m going to read verses 8 to 16:

How can a young man keep his way pure?

By guarding it according to your word.

With my whole heart I seek you;

let me not wander from your commandments!

I have stored up your word in my heart,

that I might not sin against you.

Blessed are you, O Lord;

teach me your statutes!

With my lips I declare

all the rules of your mouth.

In the way of your testimonies I delight

as much as in all riches.

I will meditate on your precepts

and fix my eyes on your ways.

I will delight in your statutes;

I will not forget your word.

– Psalm 119:8-16 ESV

There’s a lot of really good things to meditate on in these verses but let’s just reflect on verse 11 today.

“I have stored up your word in my heart

that I might not sin against you.”

Psalm 119:11 ESV

My mom and dad have taught me to memorize verses and I didn’t know why. But now when I read this verse, I see one of the most important things is that I don’t sin against God and it helps me to love his word.

Have you been memorizing Scripture lately? If not, this is a good verse to start with.

Let’s say it again.

“I have stored up your word in my heart

that I might not sin against you.”

– Psalm 119:11 ESV

Dear Lord, help my listeners to love your word and to memorize it so they don’t sin against you. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you for listening to another episode of God is Better Than Cake.

Remember to be kind to one another.

Until next time, Ciao
