When My Mom Was Scared of the Dark! 😱

Psalm 4:8

Welcome back to another episode of God is Better Than Cake, I’m your host, Lottie!

In today’s episode, I want to tell you a story of my mom when she was little. Not as little as me, but still.

One night she was supposed to be going to sleep but she was really struggling.

She was pretty scared of the dark. So she turned on the light, got her Bible, and flipped it open to the middle.

And do you know what verse she saw right away?

‭Psalm 4:8

“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

– Psalm 4:8 ESV

Oh my goodness, she felt like God was hugging her when she read that Psalm! She said she felt so safe and fell right to sleep.

Have you ever felt so alone and afraid at night? What was that experience like for you? The next time you are scared or anxious when you’re going to bed remember this verse.

My mom told me that God never sleeps or slumbers (is slumber the same as sleep?…maybe you can tell me in the comments), so he can always watch over us as we rest. Isn’t God great!

Dear Lord, thank you for speaking to my little mom through your word. Will you please help me and everyone listening to feel your nearness today, and to see you speak and move today. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you for listening to another episode of God is Better Than Cake. Remember to be kind to one another.

Until next time, Ciao
